COVID Kyoto

Posted by
Stu (From Scotland | Working in Kyoto, Japan) on 25 June 2020 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

This is the entrance to Kiyo Mizu Dera, prior to the Corona virus one of the most popular tourist attractions in Kyoto, but now lying almost deserted. These days only a few locals walk around the precincts. I came up here to take a few shots as part of a project to document the city during the pandemic, taking advantage of the lax lock-down rules here in Japan.

People naturally exercising caution and self-restraint in Japan it seems. Very different over here Stu.

@Daryl Johnson: Thanks Daryl. I just saw pictures from a beach in Bournemouth of mountains of rubbish left by beach goers. Very disappointing.

Excellent point of view and superb composition. I think the locals must enjoy a bit of peace and quiet around their wonderful temples and landmarks.

I think we were a lot of people wanting to take pictures during this period of covid, images that we hope not to see again in the future but which show us our cities and towns differently
