This is a common sight in Kyoto: old, traditional buildings being crowded out by modern structures. The contrast is quite striking at times.

Superb shot Stu. I think in many places these days we are getting rid of so many fine buildings, that look so much better than most of the newer buildings we see.

You would think the city would try to preserve the picturesque old architecture for its tourist attracting quality if for no other reason. Maybe, the developers have lots of influence.
