Planning a trip to Kyoto? See the best of what Kyoto has to offer on one of my private photography workshops: Classic Kyoto Photography
My spotlight images.
The water and the exif indicate a fairly long exposure... did the bird hold still for that long? Tack sharp, lovely whites, make for a sweet composition.

@QB: Thx QB. That seems to be what they do, and the Herons too. Some more coming up over the next few days.
Whiteness of pure delight both with the bird's natural elegance and the slow shutter speed that magnifies the movement of the river. Magic that the bird is so still & sharp in the image. Bravo.

They really like to stay calm and look the water? It's always nice contrast with all the background movement.

@Vaido: That seems to be what they do, and the Herons too. They're quite cooperative actually, if you can catch them trying to get dinner!

@Becky: Thx Becky. It was quite cloudy and the light not so bright. All I had to do was reduce the aperture to f/16 to give me a slightly long exposure giving me the water effect. The birds stay motionless as they wait for fish to swim past.
excellent silk effect. how did you done? lenses filters?

@carlyteen: Thx Carlyteen. No filters (apart from a polarizer). It was quite cloudy and the light not so bright. All I had to do was reduce the aperture to f/16 to give me a slightly long exposure giving me the water effect. The birds stay motionless as they wait for fish to swim past.
