白河院 - Shirakawa-In

Posted by
Stu (From Scotland | Working in Kyoto, Japan) on 26 May 2009 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio.

Slippers await guests to a tea house called Shirakawa-In, in Kyoto. They're there should someone want to take a stroll around the lovely garden.

Would have never expected ordinary slippers could become the subject of such beautiful and emotive picture!!! You're reminding me of a wonderful quote: "Everything around us, dead or alive, in the eyes of a crazy photographer mysteriously takes on many variations, so that a seemingly dead object comes to life through light or by its surroundings.... To capture some of this - I suppose that's lyricism." - Josef Sudek
