Miho Museum: why go around the mountain?

Posted by
Stu (From Scotland | Working in Kyoto, Japan) on 1 April 2009 in Architecture and Portfolio.

Going to focus on this place for the next few days. It's got some fascinating architecture and if you get the chance I highly recommend a visit.

This tunnel was built to provide access to the museum from the car park and visitors' centre. It seems to have no other destination, or traffic for that matter.

Great shot. The lines are very pleasing. I love that there are not even any oil stains -- just those little golf carts whizzing around. Pretty intersting place.

Excellent dark hues and composition. Was there a tripod involved or did you do it freestyle while skateboarding? I love the Japanese approach to construction. In fact, here's a snippet of a memo I once stole: 'We have money, lots and lots of it, and when it's virtually the arse-end of the financial year, we will spend it; in any way that we bloody well want and how much of if we bloody well want.' @Sash: This was purely freehand Sashmo, while skateboarding.
