Photography by Nate Lam from East Lansing, United States

Wonderful shot very nice feel to it and it looks great in monochrome.

@Photography by Nate Lam: Thanks, Nate!

Chris Sullivan from Melbourne, Australia

Nice one mate. The strength of the contrast and tone brings the image into its most basic form: the lone man and his disposition. A nice portrait that's bleak yet involving and shot very well.

21 Jan 2007 7:23am

@Chris Sullivan: Thanks Chris! I wondered if it was too bleak to post actually.

Makoto from Sapporo, Japan

こんにちは、Stuさん。
He looks a little tired. But a little comical too.
I think this image is exactly "Japan Through A Lens". Nice take Stu-san!

@Makoto: ありがとう、まことさん!

Immersed Photography from Houston, Tx, United States

Beautiful potrait!

21 Jan 2007 8:43am

@Immersed Photography: Thanks Sheldon! Congrats on the upcoming marriage!

Craiger from Vacaville, California, United States

You captured his character here! Good job!

21 Jan 2007 9:56am

@Craiger: Thanks, Craiger!

Still from Valence, France

This man seems to be lost in its thoughts... This feeling is enforced by the blurry background! A beautiful work!

21 Jan 2007 1:38pm

@Still: Much appreciated, Still!

Paulo Oliveira from Odivelas, Portugal

Ecxelent B&W photo and moment!

21 Jan 2007 2:48pm

@Paulo Oliveira: Many thanks, Paulo!

Carol from Turkey

You've captured his mood brilliantly. What an expression, what a posture. I can see him taking a deep breath as he moves off.

21 Jan 2007 3:50pm

@Carol: Thanks, Carol!

Colour blind from Tokyo, Japan

Thought provoking image. I wonder what he's looking at and more importantly what he's thinking about. Nice shot with the 200mm mate...can't see any camera shake on the man at all!!

21 Jan 2007 3:51pm

@Colour blind: Thanks Kelly! Must have a steady hand! ;-)

Damon Schreiber from Toronto, Canada

Nice work; love the harsh contrasts.

21 Jan 2007 5:18pm

@Damon Schreiber: Thanks, Damon!

objectif-plume from Belgium

ce portrait est magnifique et, je ne sais pas très bien pourquoi, je trouve que c'est un peu triste.

21 Jan 2007 7:31pm

@objectif-plume: Merci, Objectif-plume!

H.O from Victoria, Canada

Nice capture and you made story :)
とてもいいです!(^^

@H.O: ありがとう、ひろさん!

Kate from Kyoto, Japan

Great photo, Stu. Contrast is perfect. He looks so pathetic.

22 Jan 2007 12:15am

@Kate: Thanks, Kate! He does, doesn't he!

Evelyn from New Milford, United States

It really looks like he's having a moment there.
I love his sneakers.
And I like the effect that sets him off from the background. I thought, at first, that the bridge-like shape in the back was a traditional style bridge. The blur out makes it look ornate, for some reason, instead of industrial.

22 Jan 2007 3:44am

@Evelyn: Thanks, Evelyn! He does look a little 'distracted'.

Michael from Glasgow, United Kingdom

This is perfect for B&W, excellent contrasting tones. He does seem a rather lonely figure there and the background just adds to the atmosphere.

22 Jan 2007 11:25pm

@Michael: Thanks, Michael. I've been keeping this one and wasn't too keen on posting it as I thought it was too bleak.

Untitled from Kyoto, Japan

Like the way this turned out. Wonder what is going through his mind. It has a terribly sad, forlorn but evocative quality about it. A very good capture indeed.

Locina from Québec, Canada

It feels like there is such a burden on his shoulders, a heavy life.

Zing from Hamilton, New Zealand

Wonderful. Nice B&W shot. Great capture!
