Heian Shrine 平安神宮, infrared 赤外線

It's difficult to say this is "naturally" coloured, as that term doesn't really seem to apply to infrared photography, however I've tried to make the colours on this one close to a regular photograph (with the exception of the white trees). I've also posted an alternative, one might say more adventurous, version, here. It's quite different (actually it is closer to how it came out of the camera pre-processed) but still retains the ethereal quality present in infrared shots that I find so appealing.
It was shot through an infrared filter that blocks visible light.

That's the word I wanted to use in your earlier image - ethereal. A very appealing quality indeed. I've checked the alternative version, it's got its own appeal - but I do prefer this one for its dream like effect. A really fab image you've got here, Stu.

Five stars...this photo is amazing! It indeed does feel like an infrared shot with the trees those colours. What blows me away is the blur of the reflections, because with that angle it also feels it could have been shot with a lensbaby! Wow!

Excellent! The IR filter gives a really nice effect. The photo has a winter feeling which I like. The other photo is also nice, but I like the processing in this one more. Cheers, Albert

Incredibly beautiful place and architecture... and wonderful wonderful effect (not just the IR but also that long exposure) that adds so much to the image! Ethereal!

I think this infrared image says exotic which, to my eye, fits this great scene perfectly. I love this image. I like the other version too.

I like this quite a bit -- very adventurous. I like the alternative one even better because I like the rich gold/bronze tones. Thanks for posting both.
