Ken from United StatesAnother great composition, with a hint of... is that Japanese maple? 11 May 2009 5:29am @Ken: Thx Ken! It is maple, yes. Well spotted. Esther K from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, MalaysiaBeuatifully observed, Stu....the contrast & composition are lovely! Yes, do tell - is that Japanese maple? 11 May 2009 6:14am @Esther K: Thx Esther. It is indeed Maple. Please see Jim's comments below for an explanation far better than the one I could give! ;-) Peace @Ana Lúcia: 5!? Thx Ana Lucia! You made my day! jim from sebastopol, United StatesI LOVE pictures that give a tantalizing glimpse of hidden objects!! 11 May 2009 2:39pm jim from sebastopol, United StatesOther viewers asked if that was a japanese maple.. yes, it is. Some of the Japanes maples have wonderful names that when translated to English conjure up visions of vibrance and gaiety. Some of my favorites are "Dancing Little Red Haired Girl" , "Proud Peacock" and "Mane of Roaring Lion". 11 May 2009 2:50pm @jim: I'm so glad you left this information here Jim. I've been a bit confused about the Maple - I thought they only turned red in Autumn so I assumed they were something else. Thx for the comments! hugo poon from hong kong, Hong KongAnother lovely image of elegance and subtlety! So wonderfully seen and composed! 11 May 2009 2:56pm @hugo poon: Many thx Hugo! Angela Anderson-Cobb from Detroit, United StatesGreat composition. I love that little punch of color. Japanese maples are one of my fave. :) 11 May 2009 4:01pm @Angela Anderson-Cobb: Thx Angela! Well I'll try to get some more for you in the Fall. Kyoto is beautiful at that time of the year. @Daryl: Cheers Daryl! dkc from Xanthi, GreeceLove the pattern of the roof and the red detail on this one! Beautiful! 11 May 2009 11:46pm Sash from Adelaide, AustraliaA stellar composition, my friend. The tale is told in the most subtle way. Actually, as far as the anti-purist (aka antidisestablishmentarianist) in me is concerned, this is the dog's bollocks. The only thing that's lacking is a perky pair of breasts. But that's the purist in me having the final say. Don't pay any attention to that. ;) 13 May 2009 6:07am Ian Smith from London, United KingdomA great shot, with amazing composition and intrigue. Well done! 14 May 2009 7:39pm Alison Cornford-Matheson from Brussels, BelgiumLove the simplicity of the composition and that lovely splash of red! 19 May 2009 1:18pm |
