All the EightsPosted by Stu (Scotland | Residing in Kyoto, Japan) on 7 May 2009 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio. 雨どい This is part of a traditional Japanese drain pipe commonly found around temples and shrines. I found this one at Eikando (永観堂). I couldn't decide if colour was the way to go with this one or not so I've posted a colour version here. High quality prints available upon request. bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaThis is such a wonderful image...a sense of calm and balance. The colour version has an entirely different feel, equally as beautiful but with a different kind of energy. 7 May 2009 5:17am @bluechameleon: I'm glad you took the time to look at them bluechameleon, and really appreciate the comment. GJC from Kyoto (京都), JapanMagical. Though I do like b&w photography very much, in this one I am drawn to the warmth in the tones of the color version. I know color isn't for "serious" photographers, but I find it can add such depth to an image. Neither is better than the other, of course, but my preference is for the richness in the color version. 7 May 2009 5:59am @GJC: Thx for taking the time to view both GJC. I really appreciate your constant support and insights. Ian Bramham from Manchester, United Kingdomthat's an amazing photo Stu....a daring composition with beautiful conversion to B&W. Esther K from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, MalaysiaI can't decided which one I like better, too - both are great, Stu - I do like the warm tones of the coloured version.
