Water 3 / 3: Moon-lit Rice PaddyPosted by Stu (Scotland | Residing in Kyoto, Japan) on 3 May 2007 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. This is the final installment of the three-day project organized by Damon, on the theme of water. Know it doesn't look like much now, but pretty soon we'll see the first shoots of rice starting to appear here. These little fields, hemmed in by houses and apartments are dotted all around the city, sometimes in the most unexpected places. Needless to say, they're mosquito Heaven! Oh, and Happy Birthday Mum!!! High quality prints available upon request. Just click on the "contact" button below and state your demands!

Love the moon lit ambiance here. Great end to the wonderful series. 3 May 2007 5:37pm Sash from Adelaide, AustraliaI know a guy who accidentally drove his company car into one of these. Soon thereafter embarrassment and infamy followed him around like two long lost chums. I would've taken pity on him but he was a gaijin and a bit of a dickhead. PS Fifteen seconds is perfect for the lack of natural lighting present. 3 May 2007 8:18pm Alfredo J. Martiz J. from Tokyo, JapanExcellent reflections, happy birthday to your mom! 3 May 2007 10:19pm basfalcon from wales, United Kingdomhey Stu--ace lighting on this shot--interesting narrative--basfalcon 3 May 2007 11:39pm Angry Buddha from United StatesYou're doing some great work with your night shots. 4 May 2007 1:11am Chris Sullivan from Melbourne, AustraliaVery nice finish to the series Stu, it is strange to think that crops like rice are planted in suburban areas, I couldn't imagine a wheat field in my neighbourhood! Very nicely taken photo, the reflections and 15 second exposure seem to have done the trick. Great work! 4 May 2007 1:13am Zing from Hamilton, New ZealandBeautiful nightshot! Nice composition and the reflections are great. 4 May 2007 5:55am Sidonie from Sydney, AustraliaHappy birthday to your mum Stu - this shot is real eye opener - the view pof Japan I much prefer to the tourist cliches. That slither and spot of moonlight is inspired! Your series has been outstanding. 7 May 2007 3:58am Damon Schreiber from Toronto, CanadaHey there! Sorry I'm so late in commenting on the last of the water series - I seem to have gotten caught up in the cosmic order of events. I really love the eerie feeling to this. Just lovely! 17 May 2007 3:31am |
