Japanese Drain PipePosted by Stu (Scotland | Residing in Kyoto, Japan) on 30 March 2007 in Architecture and Portfolio. These are a common sight around the temples and shrines here, and some old-style houses too. They hang from the corners of buildings' roofs and guide rainwater into large pots on the ground. Wasn't sure what they were at first as they're so different from the plain, utilitarian plastic ones I'm used to seeing, but reckon these do just as good a job and are kind of ornamental too. Thanks for dropping by and have a great weekend! High quality prints available upon request. Just click on the "contact" button below and state your demands!

Gordon Ashbridge from Belfast, Northern Ireland, United KingdomThe simplicity of the image is very restful/peaceful. They almost look like wind chimes! Your use of depth of field to isolate the water guides creates a nice balance in the image. Well done! 30 Mar 2007 6:48am Craiger from Vacaville, California, United StatesWow! How cool is that! You're capture of just two of them gives me a great idea for next time. I was always trying to get all of them in one frame. Thanks for the inspiration. 30 Mar 2007 11:29pm Untitled from Kyoto, JapanAgree with the above...seen them again and again...but never been able to get a decent shot.
