Busted

Posted by Stu (Scotland | Residing in Kyoto, Japan) on 28 March 2007 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

Last Wednesday was Spring Day here in Japan so everyone was on holiday....except me! So, caught this shot on the way home. Know it looks a bit squint but it was just the camber of the road.

Gion, Kyoto.

"Camber" - ? Have to look in the OED for that one! This shot has to be my favorite of all the shots of women in kimonos - it's just so casual and candid and yet their dress is so formal, and traditional - as for clarity, I can see each chrysanthemum of the fabric- how's that! Wonderful - more please!

@Sidonie: Thanks Sidonie! I'll do my best to supply!

Nice street-scene mate, very well composed. I hate that feeling, where everyones out having fun and you have to work!

Colour blind from Tokyo, Japan

This is a fantastic shot. I love how the girl has a little smile on your face as if you called at her before taking the photo. I love Japanese girls in Yukatas or Kimonos they look so delicate. I can't wait for hanabi season to see them in full flight.

@Colour blind: Thanks Kelly. And thanks for the lens info too!

Duncan Galbraith from kyoto, Japan

Hey stu. sorry for absence (im getting used to typing that now). Lovely colour through this, really nice lighting. The expression is a winner here. That 'Lost' shot you took by the way was a humdinger in my book. Where the heck did you find that beasty?

Daroru from Osaka, Japan

Great Stu. The sunlight and pink kimonos really work well together. Did he fix his engine in the end?
