Sidonie from Sydney, AustraliaAre we outside the taxidermist's? I can't get a grip on this one - very clever, Stu! 22 Mar 2007 5:16am Art Monkey from Salt Spring Island, Canadaboy you are sure finding some interesting subject matter in Japan - I really like this one! 22 Mar 2007 5:18am Colour blind from Tokyo, Japani hope thats a fake elephant and not a stuffed one. very clever. dof is fantastic! my kinda shot. 22 Mar 2007 8:29am Craiger from Vacaville, California, United StatesHaha! Cool shot! Looks like he is hiding! 22 Mar 2007 9:11am Manuela Photography from Hainburg (near Frankfurt/Main), GermanyVery good eye to catch this! One has to look twice to realize it is no real one, well done. 22 Mar 2007 12:36pm Jen from Jessup, United StatesFabulous shot! The elephant's details are great and I love the perspective!!! 22 Mar 2007 4:33pm Damon Schreiber from Toronto, CanadaLove this concept, and from the thumbnail, it looked quite alarming. I keep trying to think of ways to preserve the sense that this is a real elephant lost in the city. Perhaps if you kept the focus on something in the background so that the elephant was lost in a bit of bokeh, that might work. As it is, I'm slightly let down by the immediate realisation that it's not real. Also the image is a touch off-straight. 22 Mar 2007 4:39pm @Damon Schreiber: Thanks Damon! Yeah, I've been having trouble with one of my lenses (18-55mm) recently and just yesterday I sent it back to be repaired. For some reason it's been blocking me from taking shots at certain focal lengths so I couldn't get the shot of the gray plastic beast I wanted. Also it had made me too angry to take an effective shot! (I blame my over-heated emotional state for the off-kilterness of the shot. Grrr!!!) So, for the next two weeks I'll be stuck with my 55-200mm lens only. Thanks for the critique though, Damon (albeit not as harsh/comedic as your comment on Untitled's blog today. Really made me laugh! I was tempted to bury this lens with a litre of burning gasoline and take up pottery myself!) Damon Schreiber from Toronto, CanadaAh well then, you'll have to return to the scene when you have your lens back and get the shot you wanted. Then if it doesn't work, you can go through the whole pit-gasoline-cement-pottery routine yourself. 22 Mar 2007 8:46pm bronzebilly u.k. from cardiff, United Kingdomgreat perspective--crisp shot--not straight ??--who is ??-billy 22 Mar 2007 11:26pm Stunner from Kingston, JamaicaNice shot. the b&w makes the elephant look so real.
