These (probably not real) Geishas were outside Ginkakuji (The Silver Temple), posing for pictures. The clearly visible wig is one of the signs that they're not genuine, but they're quite a sight none-the-less. The one on the left looked quite demure I thought, hence the title, and the early evening sun cast a beautiful warm light. I felt like such a tourist photographing them, a strange feeling after 4 years here. Hope you like it and thanks for visiting.

The girl has a resplendent smile and it is beautiful.

Lovely smiles! How come their wigs are so obvious?

@Manuela Photography: I wish I had an answer to that Manuela! ;-)
haha! nice take stu! love those fright wigs of the fakes...it gives the girls a 'lobotomized' appearance to their foreheads! Lovely smiles though, even with a couple of fright wigs they look most elegant.

Good!

Despite the tourist feeling and the visible wigs, it is still a very lovely picture of two beauties. Well done.

I feel like a tourist whenever I bring out the camera and I've lived in NZ all my life! Great photo, with an amazing light and their pose is really lovely.

Heh, looks like you've struck fool's gold! Or you would have if you really were that tourist that didn't know better. It's a nice pic and the out of focus background blends harmoniously. But those wigs!

I feel as though I could just reach out and touch those exquisite kimono fabrics - this shot is outstanding!

Fantastic - lovely, lovely tones.

If they are real ones, they look like maiko apposed to geisha. Nice shot.

Lovely shot. I didn't know that Geishas are still present. My only knowledge about them is through reading Memoirs of a Geisha

@Anup P: Thanks Anup! Yeah, the Geisha and Maiko are still around, however these ones aren't real - they're just for the tourists. I was lucky enough to see two real ones dancing at my friend's wedding last month though. It was quite hypnotizing, I can tell you! Very few people are lucky enough to see them nowadays, sadly.
