"MUST.....STOP!!!"

Posted by Stu (Scotland | Residing in Kyoto, Japan) on 24 January 2007 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

Sadly the shutter wasn't quite fast enough to freeze the wings. Lesson learned.

Damon Schreiber from Toronto, Canada

Amazing!!! Wonderful work - particularly... well, the scale of the monstrous things, but also their brightness compared to the dull background. Definitely deserves framing.

@Damon Schreiber: Thanks Damon! Yeah they're pretty monstrous up close, but still graceful too somehow.

Helen from Melbourne, Australia

Great capture all the same. The little blur reinforces the force and movement.

@Helen: Thanks Helen!

Dimitrios from ATHENS, Greece

truly amazing....what a feeling to fly like this

Francis from Hong Kong

Stu you really create beautiful tones in your black and white shots (and color now I come to think of it)

24 Jan 2007 11:44am

@Francis: Thanks, Francis! Glad you think so.

Still from Valence, France

Wow! You were atthe right place at the right moment!

Very intriguing image.

@Craig Persel: Much appreciated, Craig!

Alfredo J. Martiz J. from Tokyo, Japan

I agree about the reinforcement of force and movement because of the blur, otherwise would have feel not real, good timing!

@Alfredo J. Martiz J.: Thankyou, Alfredo!

Imaginatestudios from United States

This is a great shot regardless of othe blur. If they were doves it would be remniscent of a scene in a John Woo movie. I'd be proud of this one Stu! The monochrome is just right for the shot

24 Jan 2007 2:34pm

@Imaginatestudios: Thanks so much! Which John Woo movie?

benjamin from Singapore

wow. this is nice! i think... the blur isnt a bad thing.. as other have said makes it look real. think gives a slightly smoother and "glowing" tone. very nice one. title fits wonderfully too! haha. amazing shot!

24 Jan 2007 2:38pm

@benjamin: Thanks, Benjamin! Glad you like it.

Angry Buddha from United States

Wow! This looks like a dream. Incredible processing!

@Angry Buddha: Thanks, Sean!

Colour blind from Tokyo, Japan

Wow x 100 this is a fantastic shot mate!!! I love the pp you've done with this. It's a super timed shot. I think if the birds wings were clear it would take away from the speed of the photo. It's like they're desparately trying to get away but seriously hungry at the same time so they wanna stay. I love this photo. Frame it and seel it mate!!!!

24 Jan 2007 3:43pm

@Colour blind: Thanks, Kelly!

Craiger from Vacaville, California, United States

Yea, Wow, absolutely great!

24 Jan 2007 3:50pm

@Craiger: Thanks, Craiger!

Carol from Turkey

I came to comment about the blur too. It wouldn't have been such a good shot without the blur. I especially like the back view - he's really moving. Great timing.

24 Jan 2007 4:36pm

@Carol: Thanks, Carol! Lesson unlearned!

Zach Siebert from Bologna, Italy

@Yvon: Thanks for the visit and comment, Yvon!

Chris Sullivan from Melbourne, Australia

Very nice work, I like how the shutter didn't freeze them perfectly this way there's a better sense of movement - I like how the background is still very clear with the people walking along the river, it's just great positioning. Excellent shot!

24 Jan 2007 9:03pm

@Chris Sullivan: Thanks, Chris!

Makoto from Sapporo, Japan
