@Nilima: Thanks for the visit! @Prashanth: Ha! Thanks Prashanth! Sidonie from Sydney, AustraliaA worrying subject, has the potential to suggest destitution, despair, freezing cold, hunger etc. BTW, Stu - am I going mad, or has the EXIF data changed on aminus3 - I distinctly remember seeing our camera make and model in the data - yours I remember because it was the Japanese "Kiss" equiv. of the Rebel. Any idea why the change? 18 Jan 2007 10:14am @Sidonie: Thanks Sidonie! I left a comment on your blog regarding this. @Still: Thanks Still! Sad indeed. @Craig Persel: Thanks Craig! It was a cold day actually. Not the kind of day you want to be sleeping in the park. Craiger from Vacaville, California, United StatesGood documentry shot! It just goes to show you that life can be hard even in Kyoto! 18 Jan 2007 1:30pm @Craiger: Thanks Craiger! The homeless problem isn't as serious here as in most other "developed" countries but it is slowly increasing. Darren from JapanFine work mate and an excellent crop. 18 Jan 2007 2:47pm @Darren: Thanks Daz! Yeah, New Year for one! @benjamin: Thanks Benjamin! Francis from Hong Kong, Hong KongNice shot. I think we've all been there. To me it just looks like he's had one to many and is just sleeping it off, then again it might be something much sadder. 18 Jan 2007 3:25pm @Francis: Thanks Francis! I think it's something sadder in this case. Dan Meyers from Macomb, United StatesVery descriptive photo. The image itself looks like an older black and white, as opposed to a recent shot. Thanks for your comment! 18 Jan 2007 4:16pm @Dan Meyers: Thank you, Dan! Angry Buddha from United StatesNice work! Are they homeless? By the look of the coat and shoes, they don't appear to be to me. Anyway, I'm going to go take a nap. 18 Jan 2007 4:54pm @Angry Buddha: Thanks Sean! The homeless people here in Kyoto don't look quite as destitute as in other places around the world. You should see the houses they build for themselves down by the river. They have gas, electricity and their clothes are all hanging up outside, clean. They still have self-respect. @Tim: Much appreciated, Tim! Bronnie from Christchurch, New ZealandYou keep on opening windows into views of Japan that break stereotypes and are really fresh and quite unique. I love visiting each day even if I don't always comment!!! 18 Jan 2007 6:22pm @Bronnie: Thanks Bronnie! Love your work and you're a first-rate commentator. Chris Sullivan from Melbourne, AustraliaYeah, to me it looks as if he's just sleeping off a big one; although it has the potential to point at something a lot more bleak. Love the symmetrical qualities to this photo with the centered bench and the metal posts behind him. Great stuff Stu! 18 Jan 2007 11:03pm @Chris Sullivan: Thanks Chris! As I said to Sean, it's sometimes difficult to distinguish between a homeless person and someone just sleeping-off a big one! I may have been confused for one of them at some point! ;-) Kate from Kyoto, JapanGreat photo, Stu! He's probably only there because he was too drunk to find somewhere warmer. But I saw some guys camping out in Kyoto subway recently. 18 Jan 2007 11:45pm @Kate: Thanks Kate! Have you noticed that the number of them living under bridges on the Kamo river is increasing? Manuela Photography from Hainburg (near Frankfurt/Main), GermanyVery strong shot speaking for itself... 19 Jan 2007 9:38am |
