Bali 3 - HovercraftPosted by Stu (Scotland | Residing in Kyoto, Japan) on 7 December 2006 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio. Not my usual kind of subject but I couldn't resist the opportunity. Dragonflies of different colours were all over the place. I used to like them until i saw how gruesome they were up-close! Reminds me of some 1950s 'B' movies! Zach Siebert from Bologna, Italyi've always despised dragon flies! but nice close up! dizaaaamn! 7 Dec 2006 11:37am Angry Buddha from United StatesDamn that's close. Otherwise, you got a mutated dragonfly problem where you live. Very nice shot and detail. I like that you can see the little hairs on its legs. 7 Dec 2006 1:53pm Helen from Melbourne, AustraliaWhat a pose! It's position makes it look almost more like a bird than an insect. 8 Dec 2006 2:33am Daniel from United StatesI'd consider some mild fill flash for this type of shot to minimize/eliminate shadow & harsh hightlights. 8 Dec 2006 3:07am Paul Ricciardi from Lexington, United StatesIt appears as if the dragonfly is some sort of biomechanical aircraft, very nicely captured and composed. 8 Dec 2006 4:01am Colour blind from Tokyo, Japan...and it's gone for a 6!!!!
